The Employment Specialist / Career Advisor’s role is to support and coach young adults towards educational, vocational and employment goals. In addition to exploring career options for a diverse clientele, the successful candidate will outreach to potential employers to develop job opportunities.  

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

  • Schedule appointments with clients
  • Conduct psychometric testing , present interpretation packages to clients and collect fees
  • Market career services to schools and additional relevant organizations
  • Provide coaching in job readiness skills and job search strategies, CV writing, job interview preparation and accompaniment, if needed
  • Provide on-the-job training, workplace integration and on–going support to both the client and employer
  • Participate in job development activities and client advocacy via cold calls, marketing visits, attendance at recruiting events and job fairs
  • Write and maintain client files and reports according to Ometz and/or Emploi Quebec guidelines
  • Keep abreast of employment and career related issues, information, trends and best practices
  • Create collaborative relationships with Ometz internal departments and external resources


  • Master’s level degree in relevant field
  • 3 years of experience working with youth and vulnerable populations
  • Knowledge and eligibility to administer Level B psychometric testing
  • Knowledge of Quebec CEGEP, university and vocational programming and application processes
  • Experience administering the Strong Interest Inventory
  • Fluently bilingual in both official languages
  • Good knowledge of MS Office
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships with clients
