The Alzheimer Society of Montreal is currently looking for On-Call Activity Leaders for its three Saturday activity centres for people living with Alzheimer’s disease and related forms of dementia.

Located in Ahuntsic, Lachine, and Westmount, these centres benefit caregivers by allowing them a period of respite, while also providing a creative and stimulating environment for their clients living with dementia.

The activities and programs offered at the activity centres to both individuals and groups are designed in a collaborative environment, using a therapeutic approach and according to the interests and capacities of each participant. With a staff-to-client ratio of 1:3, our therapeutic activities and programs can be adapted to the needs of each individual. 

Position Requirements

  • Preferably students in their 1st (second semester), 2nd, and 3rd year of Special Care Counselling, Therapeutic Recreation, CRLT, or a related field;
  • Bilingual (French and English), a third language is an asset;
  • Availability to work every Saturday (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.);
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and related forms of dementia;
  • Experience working with individuals living with dementia;
  • Experience in programming and adapting therapeutic activities;
  • Capacity to work within a team environment;
  • Owning a car is an asset.
