Arrondissement.com is a project of L'Avenue inc., an NPO whose mission is the democratization of information technologies among non-profit organizations and disadvantaged populations of the Greater Montreal. Launched in 2002 in Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, Arrondissement.com is the first Montreal Internet portal that promotes access to community resources and public services.
Between 2003 and 2005, three other boroughs joined the portal: Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie, Plateau-Mont-Royal, and Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension.
In March 2008, L'Avenue inc. finalizes a new software application that allows it to extend its mission to the 19 boroughs of the City of Montreal.
In September 2013, Arrondissement.com loses its public subsidies and solicits its members through paid subscriptions to help it continue its activities. In addition, it is expands its activities in the Greater Montreal and all regions of Québec.
Not only can citizens find a description of the services and contact information for the organizations, but the organizations themselves can post their news releases, events, volunteering offers, employment, columns, etc.
It is therefore a collaborative project, where more than 850 different groups a year publish themselves content relevant to their clientele, in addition to content published directly by Arrondissement.com.
