Who we are

Author : is a project of L'Avenue inc., an NPO whose mission is the democratization of information technologies among non-profit organizations and disadvantaged populations of the Greater Montreal. Launched in 2002 in Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, is the first Montreal Internet portal that promotes access to community resources and public services.

Between 2003 and 2005, three other boroughs joined the portal: Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie, Plateau-Mont-Royal, and Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension.

In March 2008, L'Avenue inc. finalizes a new software application that allows it to extend its mission to the 19 boroughs of the City of Montreal.

In September 2013, loses its public subsidies and solicits its members through paid subscriptions to help it continue its activities. In addition, it is expands its activities in the Greater Montreal and all regions of Québec.

Not only can citizens find a description of the services and contact information for the organizations, but the organizations themselves can post their news releases, events, volunteering offers, employment, columns, etc.

It is therefore a collaborative project, where more than 850 different groups a year publish themselves content relevant to their clientele, in addition to content published directly by

Directory of organizations

With more than 11,000 non-profit organizations and public organizations listed by borough, city or region in 17 subjects and 107 sub-topics , the directory of has become a must for those seeking community and public services in Quebec.

Registration to our directory is not free (at very reasonable prices). Just create a user account and then become administrator of the micro-site of the organization. At any time, it is possible to modify information by logging into your account. Also, an error reporting system allows us to update records daily.

It is from this same page that users publish their content (news releases, chronicles, events, job offers, volunteering, internship, bulletin board, services and products). For more information, see the content publishing section.

The micro-site includes:

  • Logo or photo
  • Contact information (address, phone, fax, email)
  • Mapping (location of the organization on a map)
  • Link to the website

  • Mission of the organization
  • Detailed description (services, clienteles, etc.)

With more than 40,000 companies and businesses listed according to their district through 15 categories and 254 sub-categories , the business directory is an essential tool for finding businesses in your neighborhood. An error reporting system allows us to update it daily.

The directory of elected officials has a total of 146 elected representatives including 18 federal, 25 provincial and 103 municipal
classified according to the district or districts they cover.

The elected members of our portal can publish their contents and participate in our column of elected officials that corresponds to a placeholder on our homepage. They can make themselves better known to the citizens of Montreal.


The newsletter is emailed daily (Monday to Friday) to more than 19,000 members. It contains the latest publications of organizations and businesses on the site: press releases, events, columns, job and volunteer offers as well as direct access to our main sections.

This Internet portal offers citizens the possibility of easily find all the services of Montréal non-profit groups and it serves as a social community reference center on the Internet. Each month, receives more than 200,000 unique visitors and more than 1,000,000 page views.
