Mission

Founded by Father Emmett Johns ("Pops") in 1988, The Good Lord on the Street helps homeless and precarious youth. With dedication, empathy and respect, and with the support of the community, we look after their immediate needs and work with them so they can develop the skills and resources they need to lead more independent and rewarding lives.

Description

Since its creation in 1988, The Good Lord in the Street, often known as Dans la rue, has been a leader in the care of street teenagers in Montreal. Its success is directly related to the philosophy of its founder, Father Emmett Johns, who is at the root of the services offered by Dans la rue: every young person has the right to be respected and listened to without being judged.

In the street offers these young people a place to get out and to blossom by providing them with help appropriate to their situation. Most importantly, Dans la rue provides these young people with an environment of respect, friendship and dedication.

From the very beginning, we have always been careful to pay attention to the special needs of homeless youth. Setting up a new service or program is never done without ensuring that the tools we offer them take into consideration the unique challenges and challenges they face.
