In the 1970s, St-Bonaventure School on 36th Avenue closed. Young people go to different schools in the area. Left empty, the school gradually deteriorates. Some members of Loisirs St-Bonaventure ask the City of Montreal to make the school a Recreation Center. Around 1975, the Alphonse-Desjardins Center was created.
