Mission

The CARI St-Laurent (Saint-Laurent Immigrant and Social Home and Reference Center for Immigrants) is a non-profit organization welcomes and assists immigrants and accompanies them in their personal, social and professional integration by adapting its services to their experience and to the host society.

Description

CARI St-Laurent promotes the settlement, adaptation and integration of immigrants. Our many services allow us to meet the socio-professional needs of our users.

Family and intercultural rapprochement meets the needs of family members:

  • Reception: technical assistance, orientation and reference, information sessions, outings and intercultural twinning.
  • Rainbow Break: Occasional babysitting service for toddlers.
  • Youth ages 6 - 12: nutrition workshops in primary schools, Young Leaders program, and summer camps.
  • Women of the world: international cuisine, crafts, development of personal and social skills, coffee-meetings.

  • 18 French classes (full time, part time day or evening)

Employment

  • Supports the economic integration of immigrants through information, counseling and 4 job search assistance programs

Popular education and community life

  • Computer course (Windows, web browsing and e-mail, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • English course with the English Montreal School Board.
  • Conversation workshop in English.
  • Introductory course for Canadian citizenship.
  • Volunteer activities and social and civic involvement.
  • Organization of activities to animate community life in the borough of St-Laurent.
