Mission

The Shelter of Hope is dedicated to housing adult women with and without children who are struggling, to meet their immediate needs and to provide services and programs that promote their social reintegration. It aims to improve the living conditions of these women, to promote their well-being and their health, to welcome a clientele of all origins.

Description

Shelter of Hope is a short and medium term shelter for women in urgent need of help. It offers two programs.

The short term program
This program, which lasts from one day to three months, is designed primarily to meet the primary needs of residents, including medical care, and then stabilize their situation by helping them define their life goals.

The long-term program
This program, lasting from three to eighteen months, offers a personalized service to a dozen women in difficulty who wish to regain their social and economic independence.

The "social reintegration" component provides women with the support they need to regain their independence and improve their situation. Staff maintain links with other organizations and follow-up.

The family program
The "family" component provides a short and medium-term shelter service for mothers in difficulty. Qualified counselors accompany the residents and help them to assume their parental responsibilities. The program can accommodate six mothers and fifteen children.

In addition to providing basic care, this component offers activities that promote social reintegration, including budget management and cooking for all. Practitioners supervise mothers in their search for employment or housing.

In addition, an educator looks after the development of children by providing educational games, an early learning program and a community cooking workshop.
