Directory of Community Services for Homeless people: available at The Information and Referral Centre

Montreal, February 11, 2016 –“It is with great satisfaction that we are launching today the 2016 edition of the Directory of Community Services for Homeless People in the Greater Montréal Area. It is an invaluable tool, even indispensable, which informs all persons wishing to know the different community services available for homeless people on the Greater Montreal territory” declared Mrs. Pierrette Gagné, executive director of the Information and Referral Centre of Greater Montreal (IRCGM).

The City of Montreal’s July 2015 data shows that 3016 people were in a homelessness situation, in Montreal alone, in a census conducted a few months earlier. « Having access to resources that gives better conditions to homeless persons is essential for homeless people themselves, their close ones and health and community workers », indicated Mrs. Gagné.

The directory, in French and English, contains the structured description of 300 sociocommunitary services of Greater Montréal. The index facilitates research by subject, by geographical sector, by languages other than French and English and by alphabetical order. Furthermore, the Itinéraire Team is a proud contributor of information capsules, that shed a light on their lives and the support they obtained from homelessness services to better their situation.
